Medicare Services

We know you’re probably confused, and definitely getting bombarded with phone calls, emails, and cheesy commercials on TV about Medicare. Unfortunately, we can’t stop that from but happening - but, we can help you sift through all of your options and make an informed decision. Keep scrolling for a crash course on how Medicare works - we will get much more detailed during your appointment.

You are eligible for Medicare when you experience one of the following:

  •    Turning 65 years old

  •    Considered disabled

  •    End Stage Renal Disease(ESRD)

There are a few other stipulations when you are/aren’t eligible for Medicare - the above three are the most common we’ve experienced.

Original Medicare: Part A and B

Part A or Hospital Insurance:

This provides you coverage if you were to be admitted into a hospital or skilled nursing facility. Part A is free for most people - in the rare case that it’s not, we’ll help you through it.

Part B or Medical insurance:

Part B helps cover outpatient services like doctors appointments and surgery.  Almost all people pay for Part B. There are a few income driven programs and even plans out there that can help pay some or all of this premium. On the other hand, if you made a decent amount of money 2 years ago, you could pay more.

A good majority of people enroll into Original Medicare during their Initial Coverage Election Period (ICEP). This 7-month period runs the 3 months before you turn 65, the month of your 65th birthday, and the 3 months after you turn 65. There are also certain times throughout the year and certain events that will allow you to sign up outside of your ICEP - we’ll figure that out for you.

Medicare Advantage or Part C

These plans are administered through private insurance carriers. There’s a lot of options out there - our job is to help you find the right one. The plans we look at here will include your medical, prescription and dental/vision/hearing - all in one plan. It’s important here to check your doctors and prescription drugs for proper coverage - we’ll take care of that. Medicare Advantage plans are a great way to save money on premiums, while maintaining good coverage through a reputable carrier.

Medicare Supplement or Medigap

These plans cover the remainder of what your Part A and Part B do not cover. With most supplement plans you are responsible for a small Part B deductible of $240 for 2024. Supplemental plans only cover medical services - you will need to pick up a prescription drug plan (PDP); and a dental/vision plan. Some supplemental plans offer a rider or discount for dental/vision/hearing.

Part D

Part D provides you with stand-alone prescription drug coverage. Part D plans are typically paired with a Supplemental plan for complete coverage.
